Lab Meetings 2000 Meeting Contents

September 6

* Computational models of sensorimotor planning and control
* The relationship between eye and arm movements
* The development of visually guided reaching in humans
* The role of variability in movement planning and adaptation

The first meeting will take place next week:
Wednesday Sept 13, 2000 10am in the Keck Conference Room.
The reading is available in the Sloan Reading Binder, HSE 806:
R. Held, "Plasticity in sensory-motor systems." Scientific American (late 1960's?).

September 26

"Computational Aspects of Motor Control and Motor Learning", Michael

I. Jordan. Supposedly in H. Heuer & S. Keele (eds), _Handbook_of_
_Perception_and_Action:_Motor_Skills_ , New York, Academic Press.

I was unable to find evidence that this book actually exists, but I do have a preprint of the article. A copy is available in the Sloan binder, and another (to borrow) will available in my office, HSE 816.

October 3

We will finish the paper we began this week, going over the second half on Motor Learning:

"Computational Aspects of Motor Control and Motor Learning", Michael
I. Jordan. Supposedly in H. Heuer & S. Keele (eds), _Handbook_of_
_Perception_and_Action:_Motor_Skills_ , New York, Academic Press.

We'll be finishing the Jordan paper from last week, covering the section on motor learning (p.30 onwards). And, good news for anyone who doesn't have copy: a postscript version is now available at ~sabes/Papers/Jordan1996.ps on Keck.

October 10

~sabes/LabMeeting/vanBeersEtAl1999a.pdf on Keck. Both are available (for photocopying) on my office door.
